As I’m sure you already know, Toddle baby bibs are made from the softest food grade silicone. But why do we use this material in our products, and why is it the best option for you?
Keep on reading to find out precisely why we’re silly about silicone!
Let’s start with the basics!
When people say silicone is made of sand, they are not entirely incorrect, Silica—or silicone dioxide— is what they are referring to. Silica is the raw material used to make silicone resins.
Plastic on the other hand is a petroleum based material commonly containing estrogen mimicking chemicals likes BPA.
Wait what does this all mean? Well..in simple terms, it's bad for us and our environment. That's what makes food grade silicone a safer alternative.
So... let’s explore this claim a little bit more.
Silicone versus plastic – what’s better for your baby?
I can hear those at the back screaming ‘but BPA free plastic can be used as an alternative to plastic so why do we need silicone products!?’
Well…let me tell you why!
Unfortunately, BPA-free plastics aren’t helpful when it comes to human health or environmental woes. Researchers have determined that plastic manufacturers have removed BPA in order to label their products “BPA-free” but have instead added a new chemical called BPS (bisphenol substitute), which is believed to be more toxic than BPA!
Not to worry, here at Toddle, when we say our products are non toxic, we mean it! So here’s why we love silicone, and why we think you will too!
Silicone is durable, and more ocean-friendly than plastic. It lasts longer, and stands up better against heat and cold than plastic. It's safer for your family too, with no estrogen-mimicking toxins (like BPA or BPS) to worry about.
Due to its flexibility, lightness, easy cleaning, hygienic and hypoallergenic properties (i.e. it has no open pores to harbor bacteria), it has become an increasingly popular alternative to plastics, and rightly so!
By using silicone, your family can drastically reduce their dependence on plastics, which get scratched, foggy, broken and needs to be replaced every so often.
With more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic floating around our oceans, using less plastic means contributing less to poisoning our wildlife, including the famous baby shark - doo.. oops, I'll stop before the song gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
Moving on… now that we’ve managed to convince you why silicone should be your go to, we'll get into a bit more of the reasons why our products are a must have in your household.
What makes our silicone baby bibs different from the rest?!
|Pantone Colour Curated||Our bibs are created to suit the modern home! There’s no way you’ll find a nude or brown bib at your local baby store. Trust us, we’ve searched high and low.|
|Reinforced Buttonholes and Catcher||
We've spent hours redesigning our bibs to make them more durable. Reinforcing the buttonholes means your baby wont be able to tear it away from their neck. Reinforcing the catcher, stops the bib from sagging, to ensure food doesn't spill on the floor when baby leans forward.
|Minimal Design||Our logo is tucked away neatly in the back. Yay to no more ghastly prints.|
|Premium Quality||Our bibs are soft to touch (as soft as a baby’s bottom) and reduces any possibility of irritating your baby’s skin! Your baby won’t even know they have it on…until of course they realize that it makes a great teething toy.|
|Long term investment||
Your baby can start using our bibs from the beginning of their weaning journey (around 6 months old) until they are walking, talking and running all over the place (around 36 months old).
|Travels and Cleans Easy||
Going out for a meal?! No problem, roll them up and pop them in your handbag to make sure your little one’s clothes stay clean and crisp! Done? simply wipe them down! No more rotten bits in your nappy bag!
